35 anni fa (29 Settembre 1986) gli Iron Maiden pubblicavano il loro sesto album dal titolo "Somewhere in time". Questo album è caratterizzato da alcune novità, sia strumentali che liriche. Per la creazione di questi brani vengono impiegate le guitar synth - un synth che può essere controllato dalla chitarra anzichè da una tastiera - che anticiperanno l'uso delle tastiere nell'album successivo "Seventh son of a seventh son" (per molti l'ultimo buono da sentire in casa Maiden... de gustibus).
Per quel che riguarda le liriche - sempre importanti per la band - trattano molto il tema fantascientifico.
Tra le canzoni presenti in questo disco ricordiamo la celebre suite "Alexander the great", brano che narra la storia e le gesta di Alessandro Magno.
